Open Quote Having a performing arts school in our neighborhood is such an awesome thing. These are our future artists, performers and scholars. This small and unique school of less than 500 students, where students are recognized by their names not just a number or a face in the crowd. This is a school that is loved by its students and parents. Rated A+ high performing for the having excellent grades for the last three consecutive years. Love A&M and my son did too!!!! Open Quote Parents need to know that this charter school is bad news! Look it up-- the Miami Herald and others have done investigations about how this school is being run for financial gains, not the kids and their education. The school district just audited the school and found that it isn't being run properly. Many many kids have left the school. Two good principals left last year because things are so bad there. Most of the teachers from last year have left too. The school's funding last year was stopped because they were improperly charging fees and not providing special ed. This year they will no longer provide free/reduced lunch like at regular public schools because the director accused the kids of lying. The same guy who owns the building owns the cafeteria so he will probably be able to get more money now. It is supposed to be an arts school for talented kids but they are letting anyone in now without an audition because so many kids have left and they need students so they can get more money. Really there are so many bad things to say! Don't send your kids there if you care about education! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
