Open Quote This school can be better but need to get rid of the principal. she is overwhelmed with running two schools and spend most of her time at the other school than at sumerset pompano. She is never there and does not have an assistant principal. If parents need to speak to her they have to go to the other school or wait for her to visit pompano. Some of the teachers are good but not all of them. The lady who used to work at the front desk got arrested on child abuse charges and one of the teacher has a mugshot. it is all over the internet parents becareful of your child teacher. My child is in the ESE program. It used to be good but not anymore they only have one teacher who work at both schools this teacher is always at the other school and do not see my child as much. A fifth grade boy took a knife to school. A few weeks later he threaten to shoot up the school. they did not expel the boy he is still attending the school. After what happened at Stoneman Douglas we believe the principal would put children safety first she did not. she still has the boy in school and didn't even hire security. I will not send my child to this school next year bye somerset pompano!!!!!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
