Summary

Dolan School is a public middle school located in Stamford, Connecticut, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 591 students. The school is part of the Stamford School District, which is ranked 125 out of 156 districts in Connecticut and is rated 1 star out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Dolan School's academic performance, as measured by the percentage of students proficient or better in SBAC/English Language Arts and SBAC/Mathematics, is consistently lower than the Stamford School District and the state of Connecticut averages across all grade levels and years. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 27.2% of 6th graders, 36.5% of 7th graders, and 27.1% of 8th graders at Dolan School were proficient or better in SBAC/English Language Arts, compared to 35.4%, 38.6%, and 36.7% for the Stamford School District, respectively. Similarly, Dolan School has consistently higher chronic absenteeism rates compared to the state average, ranging from 17.7% to 22.5% in recent years.

Additionally, Dolan School has a significantly higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 56.01% to 61.34% in recent years, indicating a higher proportion of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. This finding aligns with research that suggests socioeconomic status is a significant factor in educational outcomes, and schools serving disadvantaged communities often face additional challenges in supporting student success. While Dolan School's performance is more comparable to other middle schools in the Norwalk School District, such as Ponus Ridge STEAM Academy, the school may benefit from targeted interventions and support to address these areas of concern.

Open Quote I really dont like dolan..well i hate dolan,we cant have any fun.. the principal is really strict and she dont like anybody to have fun.I think our school should have a school talent show such as singing, dancing, rapping, and many other talents. With this, students would have a chance to express themselves. This will also help them with their personal lifes and no matter whats going on at home, they can always look forward to what they wanna do in school. Another problem is with lunch. We cant even sit with our friends we have to sit by homeroom. Many of other students would agree with me if i had showed them this. Our school should also have dress up days at least every month or something. This school is way too strict! We (kids) would wanna have some fun at school. Alot of kids would LOVE going to dolan...My other friends, when they ask me what school i go to now,i tell them dolan and they just say mhm mhm mhm. i think dolan is veerrryyy BORING! please pleasseee can yall just switch it up a little bit please!!! thats all im asking...and its sad that alot of kids dont have a voice like i do.. im speaking for all of us soo please! i want this year to be the best year of our lifes since its the last year!
