Academically, Brooklyn Middle School consistently performs above the state average in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics proficiency across all grade levels. In 2024-2025, the school's ELA proficiency rates ranged from 45.1% to 60.7%, compared to the state average of 50% to 52.5%. In Mathematics, the school's proficiency rates ranged from 39.5% to 55.7%, compared to the state average of 40.8% to 44.9%. Compared to nearby schools like Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School and Windham Middle School, Brooklyn Middle School generally outperforms them in academic proficiency.

However, Brooklyn Middle School's chronic absenteeism rates are a concern, as they have fluctuated between 17.7% and 32.2% over the past few years, consistently higher than the state average. This could be an area for the school to focus on, as high chronic absenteeism can negatively impact student learning and academic outcomes. Despite this, the school's per-student spending has decreased from $18,864 in 2017-2018 to $15,751 in 2018-2019, and it maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 10.6 to 10.9 over the past few years.

Open Quote I'm a former student of Brooklyn Middle school. After transferring to private school for 6th grade, I couldn't be happier. In Brooklyn, the students just don't care about education, nor do they take care of themselves well. Cliques are a normal thing there, and exclusion of "unpopular" kids is the thing to do. I was dubbed a nerd in 3rd grade, because I was gifted in reading. They had no special programs for me and the classes were too slow, since we had to wait for the disabled kids to figure the simplest of concepts out. Please! Don't ruin your child! Send them to private school. Close Quote
