As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote If your child is different in ANY way, do not take them there. The bullying is extreme and the staff protect the kids that are the bullies. My child is now in a different school and her grades are back up and she receives more acceptance than she ever did at Teller. She still cries and gets angry over how she was treated at Teller. As a parent, the school just gives lip service. Do not trust the principle. Going to a new school was the best thing that could have ever happened for my child. Close Quote

Open Quote I can't say enough good things about the teachers, staff and parent community at Teller Elementary. I was first introduced to the school 11 years ago when I moved into the neighborhood and took an active interest in the school well before my children ever attended. Over those years there have been many changes, including a strong growth of students attending the school. This year we finally have three of each k-5 classrooms, MI program, a gifted and talented teacher, strong intervention, full-time PE teacher, a wonderful group of paraprofessionals and a very strong music and arts program. The teachers and staff are strongly supported by a very active parent community and PTA. I would highly recommend Teller to anyone who asks, but also understand that like any school, Teller may not be for everyone. Close Quote

Open Quote I am curious about the review I read above, posted one year ago regarding bullying at Teller. We also just moved into the district from out of state and have two children at Teller. One is a very bright child on the autism spectrum. She arrived already identified with an IEP. It's taken most of the school year to get a revised IEP in place (a violation of FAPE) and in the meantime we have watched her decompensate due to bullying. I began mentioning my concerns regarding bullying to her 3rd grade teacher as early as Christmas break but they were ignored or dismissed. We are nearing the end of the school year and my daughter is a mess! Still no active IEP in place and she is afraid to attend school after a recent school incident led me to confront the bully's parent myself! We requested a meeting regarding the bullying, and though certain staff showed concern and acknowledged the problem, they didn't seem to know how to swiftly respond, giving the bully more time to do damage. If you have a special needs child, my advice is to know your rights under IDEA and enforce those rights with an advocate present, that goes for any school. But my child clearly needed more support than she received this year, and we have yet to see how the district will respond, as we have contacted them. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
