As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Teachers do not get the needed support to teach the students. My daughter attened this school and when she returned to public schools she was behind. It took hours after school to return her to the norm for her grade level.I've talked to others that have left GVA. Theier children are behind and require tutoring to bring them to grade level. GVA has created a culture where parents are happy but clueless as to what is really happening in the classroom and adminstration. I am unhappy that this school continues to recieve tax dollars to operate when the neighboring schools provide a better education. Close Quote

Open Quote I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. All talk and no substance. A song and dance show that sounds too good to be true. Parents beware! Close Quote

Open Quote I am the parent of two children aged 7 and 9 who attend Great Valley Academy, and this is my testimonial of their experience, and my experience, so far. Before the doors even opened, I had a profound connection to what is being offered by this school. It utilizes traditional and new ways of thinking about teaching and learning; what lights up a child's forming brain and what shuts it down, and for my kids, it works well. They are both thriving and learning. No school is without issues that must continually be addressed, such is life...the staff I have dealings with are dedicated and open, kind and thoughtful in their actions. My family has benefited from Great Valley Academy enormously. Close Quote

Open Quote No transparency! Board members and parents alike have not read the Charter. So no one holds the administration or board accountable to their charter contract! Parent group not allowed! Parent issues are treated on a case by case basis. So parents experiencing similar difficulties are not aware of each other. Or if the issue is one to be addressed school wide. Board meetings are not attended by parents or teachers( the interested parties). The teachers are completely committed to the school and children. The teachers are just amazing! Also some really dedicated and loyal parents! Yet they do not care to take the time to read the charter. So they can be fully informed. So they can fully understand what is required to be done or not done. The requirements of the charter are just that Requirements! It is not a choice to follow the charter, its REQUIRED! The entire charter, over 200 pages is available at the chartering agency. Parents do your homework! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
