As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As an 8th grader at KSA, I have learned that this school is very beneficial for my learning. For example, the teachers work really hard for making their lesson plans the best as they can be so that we can climb the mountain to college. KSA really taught me how to prepare for high school and college (like how to take good notes, annotating text, speaking and listening skills and many more.) We also learn to practice good character traits such as love, self control, curiosity, zest and lots more. Finally, students are set at a very high expectation to do their very best. This causes the students to be more aware of what they are doing which then prevents trouble from happening. So, in conclusion KSA is a very good school to go to because the teachers work really hard for the students, it prepares the students for high school and college, we learn some good character traits and the students are set at a very high expectation to be the very best. Open Quote At Kipp Summit Academy in San Lorenzo the expectations are high, however, there is a cost: check out the teacher turnover. Very, VERY high. I believe that currently there only 3 teachers that have been there 4 years, the rest are new and newer. Teachers are required to work many, many hours beyond the normal workday, burn out and/or get fired for not contributing enough time and energy. Seriously, Kipp is known for its "culture" which does not nurture students or teachers. Talk with some one who has worked there (shouldn't be difficult as the staff quits or is fired at the rate of 50% a year) before applying for a job or sending your child there. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
