Summary

John B. Riebli Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 411 students in the Mark West Union Elementary district in Santa Rosa, a school that has shown steady improvement over the last decade and currently holds a 3-star rating.

The school has notable strengths, including outperforming both its district and the state in English Language Arts and maintaining a low rate of chronic absenteeism at 11.0%, which is significantly better than many nearby schools like Helen M. Lehman Elementary (23.0%) and Steele Lane Elementary (34.2%). However, mathematics is an area for growth, as the school underperforms the district average, with a particular challenge seen in 5th-grade scores.

An interesting local comparison is with San Miguel Elementary, another school in the same district just over a mile away, which achieves stronger academic results in both subjects with similar resources and demographics. The data suggests that for John B. Riebli, focusing on mathematics instruction, especially in the upper grades, while maintaining its strong attendance culture, will be key to its continued improvement.

Open Quote Very dissappointed! We live close by and now commute to a better public school. A succession of 5 principals in 6 years coupled with a retirement age teaching staff is sad at best. Please shop around first. We wasted a school year before uprooting our kids to a much better school. Close Quote
