As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school has excellent teachers and a new caring Principal who keeps parents well-informed. The teachers expect a lot and there is a lot of homework, but my daughter has excelled at this school with its advanced curriculum. My 3rd grade daughter, required to read for 30 minutes a day, now reads at the 6th grade level. Her writing has improved dramatically. She aces most math tests and the teachers drill her twice a week on addition facts, allowing only a minute and a half to do 30 addition problems. My 2nd daughter, who just finished Kindergarten, was already expected to do research on Ocean Animals and then make an oral presentation. She needs extra assistance on math, but the caring teachers are willing to go out of their way to help. The school is on top of the latest learning systems such as Common Core, Reading Counts/Lexile Scoring, and Thinking Maps. The Principal offers educational classes to parents to help them understand the new tools and assist their children in maximizing the tools' effectiveness. The student pickup/dropoff has improved and security at the campus has improved with the installation of fences and better control of entrances. Close Quote

The school is the best elementary school in the district and near Oxford Academy, one of the most difficult high schools to get into in the country. Landell puts special emphasis on writing skills and that will help students who want to get into Oxford Academy, which looks for excellent writers. Although the receptionist may be rude to you if you don't pick up your kids on time, she is well-organized and is on top of things. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
