Open Quote We brought my daughter to Nea when she was 17. She had a convoluted transcript with some real deficiencies, including some failed courses and some courses not approved by the University of California for admittance. The principal and guidance counselor assured use that, if she were to enter Nea as a junior, they would be able to address all those deficiencies. The following school year turned into a nightmare, with questions about which courses were UC approved, changing graduation requirements mid-year, and excessive stress on the our daughter brought on by the principal. Every time we met with the principal to attempt to resolve situations, we were treated dismissively. She has thrown up roadblocks to our daughter's success at every turn. Promises made when we enrolled her were not kept. Attendance records were grossly erroneous. Attempts at concurrent college enrollment (required by Nea) were stonewalled. We wasted a year on this place. I cannot recommend Nea to any student. Ever. Nearly half the faculty has turned over. A high percentage of students have transferred out. The principal is a bull in a china shop with no listening skills whatsoever. I say to Nea, "Good riddance." Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
