Summary

Clarendon School is an elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the Osborn Elementary District in Phoenix, Arizona, with 411 students. While the school has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, its academic performance, as measured by standardized test scores, is significantly below the state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas.

Clarendon School's challenges are likely exacerbated by its high percentage of students from low-income families, with 73.81% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in 2022-2023. However, the school's spending per student, at $7,967 in 2021-2022, is within the typical range for Arizona elementary schools. Interestingly, the school's homeless students performed relatively well, ranking in the top 20% of Arizona elementary schools for this subgroup in 2020-2021, suggesting that the school may be providing effective support and resources for this population.

When compared to nearby schools, such as Encanto School, which is also part of the Osborn Elementary District, Clarendon School's performance is generally lower, with Encanto School having higher test scores and a higher ranking from SchoolDigger. This comparison provides insights into potential strategies for improving student outcomes at Clarendon School.

Open Quote I attended in the district from 1994 to 2005 then I had to move. I like that they have many programs for children the parents are having like football, ballet folklorico and other programs for children. This is a district concerned for the educasion of children and parents and all people in this district work together with parents and informe parents of all activities in the schools and things of interest to us. I hope they do not remove any program they have and have more classes for children and parents throughout the school year like Parent Academy. Thanks to the teachers for teaching our children and taking the time to teach and inform parents. Grasias. Close Quote

Open Quote The Spanish Dual Language Program is phenomenal. So is the After School Ballet. My kids love the school, love the band, music and arts, and love the teachers. Clarendon is also the only A+ school in central Phoenix. Close Quote
