Summary

Desert Oasis Elementary School is a public school located in Surprise, Arizona, serving grades PK-8 with a total enrollment of 657 students. The school is part of the Nadaburg Unified School District, which is ranked 210 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Desert Oasis Elementary School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Arizona elementary schools, with a ranking between 460-770 out of over 1,000 schools in recent years. The school's performance on state assessments is generally below the state and district averages, with proficiency rates ranging from 19% to 54% across different grade levels and subjects. Compared to nearby schools, such as Canyon Ridge School, Freedom Traditional Academy, and Lake Pleasant Elementary, Desert Oasis Elementary School's academic performance is generally lower.

Despite the school's relatively low academic performance, its per-student spending has fluctuated between $4,021 and $5,834 in recent years, which is comparable to or higher than the spending at some of the higher-performing nearby schools. This suggests that the school's challenges may not be solely due to a lack of funding, but rather could be related to other factors, such as instructional practices, teacher quality, or school leadership. The proximity of higher-performing schools in the area also highlights the potential for students to have access to better educational opportunities, which could contribute to Desert Oasis Elementary School's struggles.

Open Quote Desert Oasis Elementary is a growing community of students who care about learning and each other. The teachers are top notch! This is one of the most upbeat, positive, friendly schools I have been to. My kids love it! Close Quote

Open Quote We have had all of our children enrolled in this school since we moved into this community 4 years ago. Our children have enjoyed all their teachers and we have been very impressed with the majority of them. All of our children have done very well, earning Principal's List and Honor Roll Awards. The office staff are friendly and helpful and know each of our children well. The school offers a variety of sports and other clubs to be involved in after school, as well as many field trips for all the different grades. We have enjoyed being in a smaller, friendly school where the staff all know your family and value your children. Close Quote

Open Quote I went to sign my child up for kindergarten and well was not the best first impression. Counld not understand the lady who helped me. She also was not sure about when we will get to meet the teacher. I asked will we reciecve any information by mail regarding who the teacher will be and was told no. I have to show up to meet the teacher night (which she was not to sure on the date either) in order to figure it out. I do not know how well i am going to like my child attending this school. Also I do not think children should have to wear uniforms. Close Quote
