As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is most amazing. The teachers and school officials have been so kind and caring that immediately our child felt comfortable in and out of the classroom. Learning environment itself is nurturing and unrivaled. We are so glad that our child is a student at Altadena! Close Quote

Open Quote Kyrene Altadena is one of the best schools in the Phoenix area. The physical education classes are not required, but you can sign up for them. Also, the lunches do provide very healthy foods, there are tons of salads, fruits, etc. No, Altadena is not a "lock-down" kind of school. You have misunderstood the excellance of the school. Open Quote Having just moved here from out of state, I am extremely disappointed in Altadena. Our student is in the 8th grade and does not have any Physical education classes. This is in direct contrast with the requirements of the last school district where it was required everyday. This does not promote good health.
The most disturbing part of the enrollment process was when I asked to have a tour of the campus and was told "No, this is a closed campus." I even made a point of asking if the student and I could tour after or before school and this same statement was made. How disturbing.
The last point is the "Lock down" that the students have during lunchtime. What kind of an environment does this create? Good nutrition does not make up for the uncomfortable environment.
My conclusion is that Altadena is a locked-down, state funded, penetentary instead of a nurturing and caring learning environment. Is this true? Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
