Open Quote Getting really frustrated with the public school system in Arizona, I started looking for a Charter for my two kids. My daughter had spent two years in the public schools in Paradise Valley (a decent district) and hardly learned a thing! They don't even teach cursive anymore!!

I found East Valley Academy and was initially put off a little because of the old house and antiquated supplies, etc. After hearing about the methods of teaching and the actual curriculum, I was hooked. Kids do not all have the same lessons just because of a grade level. They teach them at the child's pace! Also, having only two classrooms for all grade levels actually helps and encourages them to learn more and faster!

After one year at this school, my daughter took the AIMS test and made 100% on ALL 13 MATH tests!! AMAZING considering that the public school teachers told me that its not her subject! That means she is in the top 3% of the nation in her math skills and she is a year younger than everyone in her grade level!

My son has just finished his second year here and is doing fantastic! A's and 100%'s on almost all of his work and the work is a year or two ahead of his grade level...according to public schools!

Please bring your kids here and talk to other parents that are with the school...it really is a diamond in the rough and they are accepting new students right now!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
