Open Quote My children attended this school for many years, and I was very pleased with its earlier administration. The last few years, this school became very unapproachable towards the parents, such as being denied access to visit the class without scheduling an appointment. I have taken my child out of the school and placed him/her in one of the other PCSSD schools where my child had a very successful year. Unfortunately, my child ended up back in Tolleson, because of the superintendent's decision and his "efficient staffing". My child was punished more than taught. Also, my child was punished for very little things, such as having a few extra papers in their desk. They make their children walk around the square, called "walking the box" for very little behavior infractions, such as forgetting homework and parents not signing their daily folder. My child was very upset and started having problems concentrating and having nightmares about attending that school. Fortunately, we were able to pull him/her out of that school. My child is now having a successful year academically. He/she has never experienced any big behavioral problems before.

My child will never attend this school again, never ever!! I only hope that with the new school district, the condition of this school will improve. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
