As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote When my child attended this school, we had conversations and I had to explain things that you should not have to discuss with a five year old. He was exposed to behaviors he had never witnessed before. This ranged from vulgar language to students cursing and yelling at the teacher and unprofessional staff. It was a very intimidating environment even for me. You felt threatened by the front desk staff and several of the parents.

At school functions such as field day, etc., they played music that also included vulgar language and profanity. The kids were doing inappropriate dancing. The special events turned into a night club for the students.

The education is dumbed down to accommodate the majority of the student base. The front desk personnel are unprofessional, uneducated (I am not saying they need to have a college degree, but their vocabulary skills and presentation should be above that of a 5th grader). They dress very unprofessional, they are rude to parents and students. I was at the front desk and that had a copy of a social security card sitting at the front desk. When I approached, the person helping me made no attempt to hid the social security number. I could clearly read the name and number. She even when to the back to pull and form to give me and just left it sitting there. These are the type of people that we have given to total access to confidential information, of which they could do a lot of damage to include identity theft, sell our children's personal information, etc. The front desk personnel has access to all of our sensitive personal information that they have not even been training to keep confidential and the importance of protecting it.

I was told they try to put someone at the front desk that the majority student population can identify with. These is very obvious and scary that it makes since to someone. What they should do is raise the bar for the students so that they can see people different than what they see day-to-day at home. Let them see people who dress professional, speak proper english, and treat people with respect. This would be far more beneficial to the students.

My child was in the kindergarten, and the behaviors of the students in that age group and above is sad. It is apparent that education is not important to the parents of these kids, and a lot of the educators there could care less, because they know there is no hope for a lot of those students.

Do not let the look of the neighborhood fool you. The school looks beautiful and it is in a great neighborhood, but your child will be exposed to profanity, poor behaviors, unchallenged education system, and unprofessional adults that will be your child's role model throughout the day.

I have pulled my child out and placed him in private. This is my only option until I can sell my home. I live in a great working class neighborhood, but we are unfortunately zoned to this school. Close Quote

Open Quote This is a fine school if you don't mind teachers who allow bullying and subjecting 5th graders to vulgar music at their school sponsored ice cream social. I would give it no stars if it were possible. Close Quote

Open Quote When we initially moved to Huntsville 4 years ago, we had heard negative things above Providence; however, we found almost none of that to be true. Since Principal Bonner came in from North Carolina, there has been an unbelievable change in the pride and attitude of the parents, teachers, and students. There has been more affluence in this school over the past 2 years as nicer subdivisions have popped up north of Hwy 72, and I honestly think that has helped some too. Test scores have risen under his leadership as well. We're really happy and pleased with the changes and we have a few years left with our youngest at Providence. Hope this is helpful! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
