Summary

Albert Einstein Elementary is a public K-5 school serving 448 students in the highly-regarded Lake Washington School District in Redmond, WA, though recent data shows a notable shift in its academic standing.

Historically a top-tier school, Albert Einstein has seen its statewide ranking decline from the 99th percentile a few years ago to the 86th percentile for the 2024-2025 school year. Its test scores in English, math, and science now lag behind the district average, and it shows significant year-to-year fluctuations in serving students from lower-income families and English language learners. This performance trend stands in contrast to several nearby schools, such as Horace Mann Elementary and Sunrise Elementary, which have maintained elite rankings in the 99th percentile.

The school's challenges appear specific, with particular weaknesses in 3rd and 5th-grade math and science. While it spends less per student than some higher-performing neighbors like Emily Dickinson Elementary, other schools with similar spending, like Rosa Parks Elementary, maintain higher rankings. Located within an excellent district and surrounded by top schools, Albert Einstein has a strong foundation but faces clear opportunities for targeted improvement to reverse its recent decline.

Open Quote School teachers are very supportive. They consistently monitor students progress and forward it to parents and also help students to excel in their academics. Teachers not only teach academics but also teach students how to become a good human being and moral values. My two kids studied in this school and learned a lot from teachers. Teachers and all non-teaching staff are very supportive. Thanks to Albert Einstein school staff. Close Quote

Open Quote Einstein is a warm and nurturing school and encourages each student to do his or her best. It has some of the most dedicated teachers and staff that I have ever met. We had the opportunity to transfer to some other "better-ranked" schools in the neighborhood, but we chose to continue at Einstein. While most other schools have one academic level for all kids, Einstein breaks kids into separate groups and provides accelerated enrichment for the advanced kids while still catering to meet the needs of those lagging behind.
