Summary

Adelaide Elementary School is a public elementary school (grades PK-5) serving 321 students in the Federal Way School District, an area where academic performance faces significant challenges across many schools.

Adelaide's academic results are consistently below state averages, though it shows a relative strength in science compared to other subjects within the district. The school's performance has been volatile from year to year, more so than some neighboring schools, and it shows uneven results across different grade levels, with third-grade math being a particular concern. While the school spends more per student ($24,394) than nearby schools like Twin Lakes Elementary or Nautilus K-8 School, this higher funding has not yet led to stronger academic outcomes.

A key finding is the dramatic difference with Twin Lakes Elementary, a school very close by that serves a student population with similar economic needs but achieves significantly higher proficiency rates in all subjects while spending less per student. Adelaide is part of a cluster of lower-performing schools in the neighborhood, including Lake Grove Elementary and Olympic View Elementary, all operating within the broader context of a struggling district.

Open Quote I have two children at Adelaide and have had a terrific experience with the staff and support. It's a smaller school and the faculty cares. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter just started Kindergarten here this year, I was terrified but the staff are wonderful and she loves it. She has learned so much she is already doing math, and starting to read on her own. They do so many family events all free of charge and all have been fun, they do a ton of community events too. My friend has two children just a few miles up the road at a different school same grade and they aren't learning half as much and the school doesn't do hardly any family events. I've been very pleased so far with Adelaide! Test scores and averages are such a small part of what should be used to judge a school. I work in early childhood education and know of many schools that only focus on the tests, that's all they teach and the kids aren't learning anything useful to help them through life only whats on the test, its sad!
