Summary

Illahee Elementary is a public K-5 school serving 367 students in Camas, Washington, that consistently outperforms its home Evergreen School District (Clark) and often meets or exceeds state averages, despite the district's overall lower ranking.

Academically, Illahee stands out significantly within its district, with student proficiency rates in English, math, and science that are 17 to 29 points higher than the Evergreen School District (Clark) average. It achieves these strong results while serving a moderately diverse economic population and spending less per student than many neighboring schools like Hearthwood Elementary School and Mill Plain Elementary School. However, a notable recent decline in its statewide ranking from 4 to 3 stars coincides with performance drops among several student groups, which is a trend the school community is likely monitoring.

Located near the border of the highly-rated Camas School District, Illahee's performance creates an interesting comparison. While it trails top-tier Camas schools like Grass Valley Elementary, it generally outperforms other schools in its own district with similar student demographics, such as Harmony Elementary School and Emerald Elementary School. The school shows particular strength in its upper grades, suggesting effective cumulative learning, especially in 5th-grade science and math.

Open Quote My two oldest kids have gone to Illahee, and I couldn't be any happier with a school! The principal, the teachers, and the staff are all excellent. They have a fantastic music program. They have about 300 parent volunteers! It's just a great, great place to be!! Close Quote
