Summary

Woodside Elementary is a well-regarded public school serving about 580 students from preschool through 5th grade in Bothell, Washington, as part of the Everett School District.

Academically, Woodside consistently performs in the top quarter of all Washington elementary schools, with student test scores in English, math, and science notably higher than the state average. A key strength is the school's exceptional support for students from lower-income families and those learning English, where it ranks among the very best schools in the state. While schools like Cedar Wood Elementary and Fernwood Elementary in the Northshore School District have higher overall test scores, they serve fewer students in need; Woodside's ability to achieve strong results with a more diverse student population is a significant accomplishment.

Compared to other schools with similar student demographics, Woodside stands out. For instance, it achieves much higher proficiency rates than Silver Lake Elementary in the same district and dramatically outperforms Martha Lake Elementary in the Edmonds School District. The school shows particular strength in math and science instruction and has demonstrated resilience, maintaining its quality through demographic changes and recovering well from pandemic-related learning disruptions.

Open Quote This school allows bullying. A couple of weeks ago, my oldest daughter was bullied by one of the para-educators, and this school did nothing to resolve the issue at hand. In fact, they let the para-educator walk away without any repercussions given her poor behavior.
This person belittled, yelled at, shamed, forcefully yanked the backpack from daughter, talked down to by talking in baby voice, etc....and nothing. I am disgusted. I talked to the principal and she told me my daughter is too sensitive, same with the councilor. I talked with the Executive Director and he told me he refused to take action. I am appalled that they would act in such a manner. Bullying should not be tolerated. However, this school does tolerate.

Last year, for instance. My youngest daughter was being bullied. I received an email from her teacher in telling me that children bully and my daughter needs to learn to accept it. I still have the email.

Disgusting. Close Quote

Open Quote my daughter attends woodside, this is the worst school she has ever attended. the teachers are vindictive and the allow bullying to go on in the school. my daughters teacher has ridiculed her in class in front of all the students which cause them to make fun of her. I have had parents call my cell while I was at work asking me if my daughter is ok. this year my daughter got beat up at school, when we turned it in. the counselor told my child to quit being a victim and the school district would not do anything. when I tried to pull her out, the school said if I removed my child they would have to call CPS on me because I do not care about her education. please before enrolling your child in this school think twice especially if you have a child with any special needs. they don’t follow 504 plans. the principle is a dictator which I have seen a kindergartener running out of the school and she was yelling and cursing at him and then grabbed him by the arm. when I turned this into the Everett school district they said I was exaggerating. we are moving out of Everett School district to get her away from the school. They like the Extra money they get for special need children and do not want to lose that money Close Quote
