Summary

Dieringer Heights Elementary is a highly-rated public school serving 441 students in grades K-5 within the top-ranked Dieringer School District in Lake Tapps, WA.

The school consistently earns strong marks, with test scores well above state averages, especially in science where over 71% of students are proficient. A key strength is its exceptional support for students from lower-income families, where it ranks in the top 10% of schools statewide—this outperforms nearby schools like Foothills Elementary and Daffodil Valley Elementary, which serve similar populations but have lower rankings. While its English and math scores are competitive with other high performers like Bonney Lake Elementary, the school's overall achievement is notable for its consistency.

Parents should note that while the school excels in many areas, state data indicates a significant need for improvement in supporting its Special Education students, where its ranking falls in the bottom quarter statewide. The school benefits from being part of a high-performing district, which provides a supportive environment and adequate resources, helping it maintain strong results even as the student population changes. Compared to schools in lower-ranked districts, Dieringer Heights demonstrates how a strong district framework can contribute to sustained school-level success.

Open Quote We moved to the area in December 2012 and our then 4th grader was a student at the Challenge school in Edmonds that had been consistently the #1 program in the state. The first week any worries we had quickly dissipated. His teacher was amazing and made him feel like he had always been there. This year for 5th grade we felt again confident that we made the right move. The school doesn't have a "challenge" program however, it does challenge the students. The principle, teachers and office staff are amazing. The reading program has been extremely motivating too. The ski program could rival any private school. We are very involved in our kid's educations. It is refreshing to be in a school where so many other parents are too. We could not be happier! Close Quote
