Summary

Lake Hills Elementary is a public elementary school (PK-5) serving 498 students in the highly-regarded Bellevue School District, but it has consistently performed in the lower tiers of Washington state schools for the past decade.

The school's academic proficiency rates are significantly below both district and state averages, with only about 38% of students proficient in English and 40% in math. A key factor is the student population's socioeconomic profile, with over 66% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch—a rate 3 to 10 times higher than nearby top-performing schools like Somerset Elementary School and Woodridge Elementary. This creates a stark contrast within the district, where schools just miles apart have vastly different demographics and outcomes.

Despite these challenges, the district invests heavily in Lake Hills, which has the highest per-student spending among local schools and a low student-teacher ratio. The school shows a notable strength in serving multi-racial students but faces significant challenges in supporting Hispanic, low-income, male, and special education students. While math is a relative bright spot, the data indicates a need for targeted interventions to help close the large achievement gap between Lake Hills and its district peers.

Open Quote My daughter goes to Kindergarten in Lake Hills. I don't find any reason why it has been low rated. May be rating is based in results from grade 3 to 5.

I spoke to few other parents and they are also so satisfied with the staff and the teachers. We get regular home works, interaction with the staff and principal. Close Quote
