Summary

Amboy Middle School is a public school serving about 500 students in grades 5 through 8 in the Battle Ground School District, and it stands out for its strong and consistent academic improvement, especially in supporting students from all economic backgrounds.

The school's most notable strength is its exceptional effectiveness with economically disadvantaged students, ranking in the 87th percentile statewide for this group—a performance that significantly outpaces other middle schools in the area with similar demographics, such as Laurin Middle School and Pleasant Valley Middle. Amboy also shows strong mathematics results, with 6th and 7th graders scoring well above district and state averages, and it has demonstrated a steady upward trajectory in its overall state ranking over the past several years.

While Amboy's science scores are an area identified for growth, the school achieves these strong outcomes efficiently, even with a slightly higher student-teacher ratio than some peers. Compared to schools in neighboring districts like Hockinson Middle School or View Ridge Middle School, which serve fewer students in need, Amboy's performance is particularly impressive, making it a standout for its consistent improvement and effective support systems within the region.

Open Quote very poor teaching staff. The 7th grade has the worst in the school. Their are a few great teachers. Office staff is rude Principal really needs to retire, she push her jobs to other staff members. The vice Principal isn't much better. If you are willing to drive, It is worth your time to put your kid in another middle school. Close Quote
