As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Freedom Hill is a warm, stimulating, diverse and nurturing school that I am so excited to send my children to. Additionally, FHES and FHES PTA has won 4 grants. 1) Virginia Federal Preschool Development Grant in recognition of our commitment to excellence in early childhood education. 2) A division-level grant from FCPS Region 2 in recognition of our focus on reading instruction. 3)Freedom Hill PTA was awarded two grants from the National PTA. These grants have been utilized to bring STEM/MATH Night as well as a Digital Safety Night to our community. Close Quote

Open Quote Freedom Hill is an excellent school with terrific teachers and staff and a wonderfully diverse and supportive community. All four of my children have attended Freedom Hill and we couldn't be happier with their experiences at this elementary school. Close Quote

Open Quote We love Freedom Hill! My 4th grader and 2nd grader have been in the school since they were in kindergarten. The principal is really great and the teachers are wonderful. I am disappointed at the low rating from School Digger because I do not feel that it is accurate. My kids have both qualified for the advanced academic program, and we chose to keep both of them at Freedom Hill because of how nice it is here. The PTA sponsors community-building events throughout the year, and the students seem happy and engaged. The school has a great level of diversity that is unmatched by most other schools. I think both the ethnic and socio-economic diversity contributes to the great environment here. School administration is welcoming and easily accessible to parents. Close Quote

Open Quote Our granddaughter on the first day of Kindergarten was put on the wrong bus at the end of the day - leaving parents and after school care facility hectically searching. One the first and second day - her teacher didn't put her in the lunch line - which meant she only had Goldfish snacks to eat all day. On the sixth day of school the same teacher again put her on the wrong bus at the end of the day. This is after written instructions to the teacher. Hopefully our granddaughter will be moved out of this potentially dangerous environment into a classroom that has a more responsible teacher. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
