The school is part of the Culpeper County Public Schools district, which is ranked 85 out of 129 districts in Virginia and is rated 2 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Farmington Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Virginia elementary schools, maintaining a 1-2 star rating out of 5 from SchoolDigger. The school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with African American students performing relatively well, but Hispanic, White, English Language Learners, and Low Socioeconomic Status students performing below average. Farmington Elementary's proficiency rates on SOL (Standards of Learning) tests are generally lower than the Culpeper County Public Schools district and the state of Virginia averages across all grade levels and subject areas, particularly in English Reading. The school also struggles with high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 14.4% to 24.5% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average.

Farmington Elementary performs significantly worse than the other elementary schools in the Culpeper County Public Schools district, such as Emerald Hill, Yowell, Sycamore Park, A.G. Richardson, and Pearl Sample Elementary. These nearby schools generally have higher performance rankings, better test scores, lower chronic absenteeism, and lower percentages of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Despite increased spending per student at Farmington Elementary, the school's low performance suggests that factors beyond just resource allocation may need to be addressed to improve student outcomes.

Open Quote 9/26/2016 Most of the staff at farmington are absolutely wonderful. I do wish that some of the teachers and staff would pay a bit more attention to the children coming through and saying hello and just being excited in general to be at school. Instead i see teachers rush kids out . yelling at them to stay in line or just being rude in general. In the drop off line the music teacher seems to think that he'd rather be somewhere else. My kids used to be excited to see him , but since he has started ignoring our vehicle and just ignoring the kids (not just mine) the kids would rather get out of the car before he even remotely comes close. This happened last year as well. Parents and teachers want kids to enjoy being at school and learning but when they have to come into the school with being treated rudely , they don't want to . Lets make an effort to be kind and sweet and funny with the kids. Instead of acting like you'd rather be elsewhere. Again , My kids' teachers have all been wonderful . The office staff are fantastic . Just some of the others that need work! Close Quote
