Summary

Indian Hills School is an exceptional elementary school in Salt Lake City, Utah, serving 326 students in grades PK-6. This high-performing school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, earning a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger in the 2024-2025 school year.

Indian Hills School's academic performance is truly impressive, with students significantly outperforming their peers in the Salt Lake District and across the state of Utah. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, 86.4% of 3rd-grade students at Indian Hills School were proficient or better in RISE/Mathematics, compared to just 50% for the district and 48.6% for the state. The school's science scores are equally remarkable, with 88.3% of 4th-grade students and 86.5% of 6th-grade students scoring proficient or better on the RISE/Science assessment, far exceeding the district and state averages.

While Indian Hills School's academic achievements are undoubtedly impressive, the school faces some challenges, including relatively high chronic absenteeism rates. However, the school's higher spending per student and lower percentage of students from low-income families suggest that it may have access to resources that contribute to its success. When compared to nearby schools, such as Wasatch School and Uintah School, Indian Hills School consistently outperforms, but it also faces competition from other high-performing schools within the Salt Lake District, like Beacon Heights School and Bonneville School.

Open Quote Indian Hills is a great school. We have 3 kids enrolled and have been so impressed by the teachers and administrators. They take an active interest in each student and it is a very positive community. They also have well qualified hands-on science, art and other specialist instructors. I especially love the location. It is tucked away and feels so private and safe. The class sizes are relatively small and the kids seem close knit. Close Quote
