Summary

Spring Forest Middle is a public middle school in Houston, Texas, serving 963 students in grades 6-8 and part of the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD). While the school performs well in certain areas, such as STAAR Algebra I, its overall academic performance, particularly in mathematics, lags behind both district and state averages.

One of the key challenges facing Spring Forest Middle is the significant variation in performance across different student subgroups. White and Gifted and Talented students perform relatively well, ranking in the top 50% of Texas middle schools, but Asian, African American, Hispanic, English Language Learner, Special Education, and Low Socioeconomic Status students all perform significantly below average. Additionally, the school has relatively high dropout rates, ranging from 2.3% to 2.7% in recent years, which are higher than the district and state averages.

When compared to nearby schools, Spring Forest Middle's performance is generally lower than the higher-performing Spring Branch Middle and Memorial Middle schools. However, the school does outperform the nearby schools in the Alief Independent School District, such as O'Donnell Middle, Alief Middle, and Miller Intermediate, which have significantly lower academic achievement.

Open Quote My son has been non stopped bullied since the day he started at this school. The principle and faculty do nothing to protect there students. My son has been assaulted 6 times in the last 5 months and the most the school has done is give the other students in school suspension. I have complained multiple times and have missed work tons of times because of my child being bullied. I have recommended activities and programs the school can do to send a anti bullying message in which go ignored! WOREST SCHOOL EVER Close Quote
