Summary

McNeil High School is a public high school located in Austin, Texas, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 2,533 students. It is part of the Round Rock Independent School District, which is ranked 235 out of 961 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

McNeil High School's academic performance is mixed, with strengths in certain subject areas but significant room for improvement. While the school performs better than the state average in subjects like Biology and U.S. History, its proficiency rates in Algebra I are notably lower than the district and state averages. The school's performance has fluctuated over the years, with some subjects showing improvement while others have declined. When compared to other high schools in the area, McNeil High School generally performs better than Success High School, which is also part of the Round Rock ISD, but lags behind the higher-performing Round Rock High School and Westwood High School. The charter school Nyos Lamar Secondary also outperforms McNeil High School in several academic areas.

One area of concern at McNeil High School is the significant performance disparities across different student subgroups. While Asian and White students generally perform better than the state average, African American and Hispanic students tend to lag behind. The school's performance for English Language Learners and Low Socioeconomic Status students is particularly concerning, with these subgroups ranking in the bottom quartile of Texas high schools. To address these equity concerns, McNeil High School could focus on strengthening its Algebra I and English Language Arts instruction, as well as implementing more targeted support and interventions for underperforming student subgroups to improve overall academic outcomes.

Open Quote Best school ever ♥ Lots of drugs though. And a whole lot of fights. School staff is terrible, teachers are good for the most part, but all faculty is rude and unfair. I love the people there though. Close Quote
