Summary

Wells Branch Elementary is a public elementary school in Austin, Texas, serving 633 students in grades PK-5 and part of the Round Rock Independent School District.

While the Round Rock ISD is ranked 235 out of 961 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating, Wells Branch Elementary has consistently underperformed compared to the district and state averages in STAAR Reading, Mathematics, and Science proficiency across all grade levels. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's 3rd grade STAAR Reading proficiency was 53.66% compared to 65.25% for Round Rock ISD and 52.02% for Texas. The school's performance is particularly low in STAAR Spanish assessments, with proficiency rates well below the district and state averages. Additionally, the school struggles to effectively serve certain student subgroups, such as Male students, African American students, Hispanic students, English Language Learners, and Low Socioeconomic Status students.

When comparing Wells Branch Elementary to nearby schools in the same district and other districts, such as Summitt Elementary, Parmer Lane Elementary, and Windermere Elementary, it becomes clear that the school is underperforming academically. The school's higher per-student spending of $12,556 in 2020-2021, compared to the district and state averages, also suggests a potential misalignment between resources and student outcomes.

Open Quote Arts integration including theater, dance, art, and music as well as the opportunity for violin lessons makes my child excited to go to school every day. He also benefits from dual language instruction, daily dyslexia support, after school enrichment, and the math acceleration talented and gifted program. Other school programs like garden, science fair, Bluebonnet books, UIL competition, etc offer further opportunities for students to engage their interests. We feel the school serves a diverse student population well. Close Quote
