Summary

Anderson Mill Elementary is a public elementary school in Austin, Texas, serving 501 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Round Rock Independent School District, which is ranked 235 out of 961 districts in the state.

While Anderson Mill Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Texas elementary schools, with proficiency rates in reading and math around 40-50%, the school faces significant challenges. Its academic performance is generally lower than nearby higher-performing schools in the district, such as Pond Springs Elementary, Canyon Creek Elementary, and Spicewood Elementary, which consistently rank in the top 10-20% of Texas elementary schools. These higher-performing schools tend to have lower percentages of economically disadvantaged students.

Despite Anderson Mill Elementary's relatively high spending per student, ranging from $9,500 to $11,600 per year, and a student-teacher ratio that has fluctuated between 10.2 and 13.4 students per teacher, the school's academic performance has remained stagnant or declined over the past several years. Addressing the underlying factors contributing to the school's persistent academic challenges, such as effective instructional strategies and interventions, will be crucial for improving student learning and achievement over the long term.

Open Quote Both of my children have excelled at Anderson Mill Elementary. We find their teachers and principal engaged and available for the students and their PTA very active. The school offers several after school activities and generally cares about the students. Close Quote

Open Quote Anderson Mill is an abomination to the Round Rock school district. I have to question the intentions/references of anyone who would give this school a decent ranking. Yes, there are some caring teachers and volunteers, but if you have looked around at all, you know that AME does not provide the same level of education as the other schools in this area do. If you are honestly considering whether or not to send your child to Anderson Mill, do not just read these reviews. I strongly encourage you to visit a few other elementary schools in RRISD and then visit AME. Spicewood Springs or England Elementary, for instance. Make an appointment and request to speak to the principal and a few teachers at each school while you are there. The teachers and administrators at other schools are so passionate and forward-thinking. And then to see the bumbling, lack-luster approach of AME. It is heart-breaking. AME is setting these kids up for failure. The students coming out of this school don't stand a chance when they get to middle school and they are too far behind to make up the gap. No child deserves to fail before they have even begun. Please, please, please do your homework. Close Quote
