Summary

Loraine T Golbow Elementary is a public elementary school in Katy, Texas, serving 695 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Katy Independent School District, which is ranked 172 out of 961 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Loraine T Golbow Elementary generally performs below the Katy ISD and Texas state averages on STAAR assessments, the school does have some bright spots. For example, it performs relatively well for African American students and English Language Learners, ranking in the top half of Texas elementary schools for these groups. However, the school has lower rankings for male students, Hispanic students, and multi-racial students compared to other Texas elementary schools. This may indicate a need for targeted interventions and support to help close achievement gaps.

One area of particular concern is the school's low performance in 5th grade Science, with only 16.33% of students proficient in 2024-2025, compared to 46.19% for Katy ISD and 29.57% for Texas. Additionally, the school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, ranging from 68.92% to 72.78% over the past few years, likely contributes to its lower academic performance compared to nearby Jack & Sharon Rhoads Elementary, Ursula Stephens Elementary, and Sundown Elementary, which generally perform better on STAAR assessments.

Open Quote It's my opinion that this school desperately needs a new administration staff. The countless reports I have seen online about this principal have gone unnoticed by this district, and now I have had no choice but to withdrawal my child from this school.

To this day, there have been no changes made and I will no longer allow my child to be in this environment.

All parents moving into the neighborhood, please investigate and check out the background online of who this principal and her assistant principal really are.

Remember, our children come first! Close Quote
