Summary

Maudrie Walton Elementary is a public elementary school in Fort Worth, Texas, serving 297 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Fort Worth Independent School District, which is ranked 733 out of 961 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Maudrie Walton Elementary consistently ranks in the bottom 10% of Texas elementary schools, with its students performing significantly below the district and state averages on STAAR tests across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2024-2025, only 13.89% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in STAAR Reading, compared to 40.56% for the district and 52.02% for the state. The school also struggles to support its diverse student population, ranking in the bottom 40% of Texas elementary schools for African American, Hispanic, English Language Learner, and Special Education students, as well as in the bottom 20% for Low Socioeconomic Status students.

While Maudrie Walton Elementary has relatively small class sizes and high per-student spending, these factors do not seem to be translating into improved academic outcomes. Nearby schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District, such as A.M. Logan Elementary, a public charter school in the same district, performs significantly better than Maudrie Walton Elementary and the other nearby district schools, ranking in the top 40% of Texas elementary schools and outperforming the district and state on STAAR tests.

Open Quote We made a serious mistake when we allowed our son to go to this school. The new principal has actually brought the test scores down. We don't even know how that could be possible. No discipline in the halls or classrooms. We wish we knew what we could do to help, but from what we've seen outside help is not wanted. Close Quote
