Summary

Academy Of Dallas is a public charter elementary school serving 354 students in grades PK-8 in Dallas, Texas. The school is part of the Academy Of Dallas district, which is ranked 960 out of 961 districts in the state and has a 0-star rating.

Academy Of Dallas has consistently ranked in the bottom 5-10% of Texas elementary schools over the past 10 years, with a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's test scores are extremely low, with only 10.53% of 3rd graders proficient in reading and just 5.26% proficient in math, compared to state averages of 52.02% and 44.88% respectively. The school's dropout rate is 0%, but this is likely due to it serving only elementary grades. Academy Of Dallas has a very high percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 92-99%, and spends between $9,000-$10,600 per student, which is on the lower end compared to nearby Dallas ISD schools.

Nearby Winnetka Elementary, Jimmie Tyler Brashear Elementary, and Margaret B Henderson Elementary significantly outperform Academy Of Dallas on test scores, ranking in the top 25-30% of Texas elementary schools. Another local charter school, KIPP Truth Elementary, also struggles academically compared to the district schools but still outperforms Academy Of Dallas. The high poverty rates and relatively low per-student spending at Academy Of Dallas suggest that socioeconomic challenges and resource constraints may be contributing factors to the school's poor performance.

Open Quote I can't wait to get my child out of this school! Some of the teachers are just plain rude. They curse (yes curse!) at the kids & they are very insensitive to special needs children. One teacher has even been known to put her hands on the students! They have no problem with embarrassing your special needs child in front of the whole class. They say things like "If you don't get to work I will break your neck." Don't even try to express your concerns to Mr. Young the director. I have found that he laughs off what the teachers do & makes excuses for them. They have absolutely no tissue or soap in the bathrooms (gross huh?) I'm fed up with the unprofessional atmosphere that this school shows. Never again will my child attend here after this school year. Close Quote
