Summary

Beaver Elementary is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Wildersville, Tennessee, with 309 students. The school is part of the Henderson County School District, which is ranked 36 out of 139 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Beaver Elementary faces several challenges, including lower academic performance compared to the district and state averages. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates in Mathematics (41.2%) and English Language Arts (27.1%) were lower than the Henderson County (45.5% and 37%) and Tennessee (42.2% and 38.9%) averages. The school's performance is particularly low in 8th grade English Language Arts, where only 11.8% of students were proficient, compared to 27.8% in Henderson County and 29.6% statewide. Additionally, Beaver Elementary has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 14.2% to 20.2% over the past few years, which is higher than the state average.

Interestingly, Beaver Elementary's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups. While African American students perform relatively well, with the school ranking in the top 100 out of 498 Tennessee elementary schools for this subgroup, White students and students with low socioeconomic status perform significantly worse, with the school ranking in the bottom half of Tennessee elementary schools for these subgroups. Despite the increase in per-student spending and resources at Beaver Elementary, the school's academic outcomes have not shown substantial improvement, indicating that simply increasing funding may not be the sole solution. The school has the potential to improve its academic performance by learning from the successful practices of the higher-performing nearby schools, such as South Side Elementary, South Haven Elementary, Pin Oak Elementary, and Westover Elementary.

Open Quote Had a child go there 8 years. Great teachers about every other year. About half of the teacher are very professional and the other half needs to up there game ! Great school system and it's headed in the right direction. Just needs to weed out the slackers ( BAD/ LAZY TEACHERS )!!!!!! Close Quote
