Westminster Catawba Christian School

WCCS has nurtured, taught, and cherished each of our boys since kindergarten. The teachers are exceptional -- they love the kids and have high standards. The classes are peaceful learning environments where children are cared for. The teachers emphasize critical thinking and problem solving -- there is lots of emphasis on application of spiritual truths. The school offers many opportunities for sports, arts, and extra curricular activities, and all children can participate because of the smaller size of the school compared to public schools. The new administration emphasizes authentic Christianity, and the teachers are highly trained and extremely competent.

When I first came I was worried about whether I would fit in. It is an awesome school! The kids have been friendly and have welcomed me. It was amazing to watch the girls volleyball team win the state championship. I am so happy to see my friends get into the colleges they want. The dress up spirit days are really fun. There is also a morning Bible study that is great.

WCCS recently hosted Pastors Appreciation Day during chapel. It was amazing to see over 30 pastors from different churches attend the chapel service, and then gather with students from their congregation to pray with them. I am so glad that WCCS addresses students’ spiritual needs while at the same time offering strong academic training.

With the new administration, there is a really positive new feeling on campus. We continue to see students get the higest accolades on national exams and participate in wonderful opportunities for extracurricular activities and athletics. Now we are seeing a return to a focus on walking in a manner pleasing to Christ. Students are known and valued. While I know we will always look for ways to improve, this is a terrific school. It is an honor to be here.

Our family moved here two years ago from a wonderful Christian school. We chose WCCS for our son for a couple of reasons. The main reason was that WCCS is a Christian school. We wanted him to stay in an environment that teaches a Christian world view rather than a secular one. The other reason we selected WCCS was that our previous Head of School impressed upon us the importance of choosing an accredited school with SACS and ACSI. Lastly, the tuition was not nearly as much as the Christian schools in Charlotte. Our daughter, who tried a year of public school her freshman year, is now attending WCCS as well. She said it feels like she came back home.
