As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Hi, I am part of springville k-8 school from k-7 so far. I'll be reviewing 6-7 grade, because I don't really remember elementary school that much now.
6th grade

6th grade was great, especially because I had a lot of fun with the friends I hung out before middle school, and the new friends that I made. One of my favorite things were the snack cart.(basically a cart selling ice cream, chips, and other treats) My grades were a B average. I received no bullying at all. But when the pandemic happened, life in school felt miserable. The teachers were unprepared, and my math teacher had a teaching strategy that worked well in the classroom but TERRIBLY in zoom. That semester I passed all of my classes even though I never payed attention. before covid: 4.5/5 During covid:2/5
7th Grade
During 7th, I chose to do the hybrid school (half day online, half day in person) and that was one of the BEST choices I made. Since the middle school group is really small, everyone knew everybody so it wasn't very awkward in person. It was the best year of school in my life! The teachers worked hard to teach us, and all of the teachers were above average in teaching. Talking with the others in class was very fun. In person school was way better than online school. I was suprised that I didn't receive any hate crimes for being asian, until I realized that the majority of students are asian. Rating:5/5
Here are some cons of school:
~The teachers and parents of elementary school really seemed to despise us and would never let us really interact with the younger students. Even the buses were seperated.
~When a class would be held back during lunch, if we were 5 minutes late we would have no lunch cart.
~ There is NO electives at all. its math, social studies, language arts and science, with music and PE for specials. There is no art classes though teachers tried to add art into the work we did.
~The elementary school kids have a biig overpopulation problem.
~During the winter, we would stand outside the backdoor of the school, freezing until the bell rang 15 minutes before class. Then we would all be in a gym until class starts. (this is Before Covid)
Thats my review, I really wish the middle school part of springville wouldn't go away, its so fun :( Close Quote

Open Quote Great spirit in this school. Not much learning going on. I don't know if the budget cuts has anything to do with it but if you are looking for your son or daughter to excel in learning, this is not the school for them. I can't say it is academically strong but my kids like it. Close Quote

Open Quote We have been with the school since its opening day. I have slowly watched the school decline in its ability to give the children any kind of education. Their main focus is on testing, testing, testing. The kids learn how to test. Academics is lost. The core values of the expeditionary learning is also lost as a result. Now with budget cuts the children will lose valuable educational subjects in library, (they had a fabulous library teacher), technology (so much equipment and no teacher) and Spanish (the chance of learning an additional language. Technology, is also another language skill, visual skill, math skill, reading skill and so much more, all rolled into one. Devastating loss! To add to that, I am unimpressed by the special-ed team. They do not deliver! The expansion of the area will bring class sizes up to 45 by the middle of this year. The Beaverton school district has failed to accommodate for this expansion. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
