Open Quote while one of sons went to Rachel Carson which is an amazing school, my other son went to Murrow which is horrible. while he was there he was lost in the class, the teachers did not pay enough attention to him and were rude to me at the parent teacher conferences, plus students who take ap classes although they pass like my son they get lower scores because instead of the teachers focusing n the entire subject they just focused on key points. overall this school is horrible. Open Quote Last Spring my son received notification that he was accepted as an incoming Freshman at Edward R. Murrow High School. As both a parent and an educator, I can say without hesitation that the administration and staff set their students up for success. Murrow offered a Bridge program over the summer to incoming Freshman where they had the opportunity to spend 2 1/2 weeks with staff and peers. During that time, they attended classes that would help assimilate them to the high school experience. Guidance counselors meet with students on a routinely basis. Students were given a tour of the building. Mr. Lodico, the principal along with Ms. Siegel-Graf, the assistant principal, met with the students to welcome them and answer questions. The parent coordinator, Ms. Dasch, makes herself available to parents 7 days a week. The school provides interim progress reports and hosts parent teacher conferences early on so that you are informed about your child's progress. I have found the teachers to be committed and caring. More importantly, my son feels that he is in an environment that is educationally stimulating, fosters independence in a community where students and staff care for one another. We are so pleased that my eight grade son has made Murrow his number 1 choice on his high school application. Close Quote

Open Quote I can't even begin to comment on the horrible treatment the students and parents receive here. Close Quote

Open Quote Murrow has offered my daughter the kind of challenging education that many public schools just can not compete with. She is a high achiever and, where many schools tend to focus on the middle and high students. most do not offer the kind if self designed challenges for an extremely high achiever. Murrow allows her to excel in ways that does not make her feel a freak or singled out as the too smart one. She has integrated in the student population and many other students are not aware she is doing much more advanced work. We really appreciate that she can be with students her own age, several of which are also working at her level, and be a teenager in high school. Close Quote
