Summary

Meadow View Elementary is a public elementary school in Jacksonville, North Carolina, serving 495 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the Onslow County Schools district, which is ranked 116 out of 242 districts in the state.

Meadow View Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of North Carolina elementary schools over the past 10 years, with its performance on state standardized tests generally below the Onslow County and state averages across grades and subjects. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's 3rd-grade math proficiency was 58%, compared to 63.9% for Onslow County and 64.1% for the state. The school's performance is particularly low for White students, who rank in the bottom 10-15% of North Carolina elementary schools in math and reading.

Meadow View has a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, with 62.42% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in 2023-2024. The school has a diverse student population, with significant percentages of African American (around 30%) and Hispanic (around 20%) students. While the performance for these subgroups is generally better than for White students, the school's persistent underperformance across multiple subject areas and grade levels suggests systemic challenges that the school has not been able to address effectively. Exploring how the school's resources are being allocated and used, and identifying potential areas for improvement, could be a valuable area of investigation.

Open Quote We absolutely love this school! Can't say enough good things about the teachers here! Close Quote

Open Quote I am terribly disappointed in this school's leadership and support. I cannot seem to get 5 minutes of the principal's time to discuss my child's experience in his Kindergarten year so far. I have some concerns and some praise to report... neither will be entertained. The attitude of some of the staff is very poor. I attribute that to the low moral that is transparent throughout the school. Close Quote

Open Quote I completely agree with the February review by a parent. The principal is a joke in her own school. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is a shame. They are more worried about parking policies and pick-ups, fund raising, socializing, gossiping, than actually Teaching. If i could i wouldnt even give it one star.. Such a dissappointment, Brand new school too, what a waste.. It could still be saved,, throw out everyone in front office, and a few of the bad apple teachers. Until then doomed for continued low ranking, low rating. Close Quote
