Open Quote My daughter joined the VSN at Lincoln for 6th grade and a friend had her daughters in 6th and 8th. Out of 8 teachers, only 1 or 2 were reasonable and competent. Three of the teachers were just horrible. One was verbally abusive to her students, openly shaming them in class. Another refused to let my daughter read on her lunch break because she felt my daughter wasn't sociable enough. Another admitted to me, after some issues were reported, that she didn't feel comfortable addressing the students directly in a one-on-one scenario so all students were required to bring Post-It notes to her desk and then return to their desks and wait for her to reply with her own Post-It note! While volunteering, I heard many of the same reports from other parents. Lincoln has some teachers on its staff that are either entirely burnt out, are too busy playing psychologist to teach or are just not equipped to deal with children in this age group. We made the decision not to have our daughter return next year and other parents feel the same. Some decided to leave their children at Lincoln only because they feel the problem is district-wide and not isolated to one school. It is a shame that education has become what it has. Close Quote

Open Quote This is a great school! Teachers, parents, and students are all rallying around our new principal, Anita Stewart. The teachers are showing fun ways to learn hard subjects. Students are respectful and engaged in learning. The whole school has a vibrant feel to it. Close Quote
