Focus on application of topics taught is good preparation for future school and life in general. My children are more assertive and confident because of AAE's leadership focus. Parents are encouraged to become involved with their childrens' education. Communication between parents and teachers/staff is encouraged. Administration and faculty go the extra mile to help each individual student do their best.

Attentive teachers, great office staff. Located in a large neighborhood, many children bike or walk to school safely-can't say that for most schools anymore. Children feel important and respected and learn to treat others the same. Many fun incentives for reading, behavior and grades keep students striving to do their best. Teachers will go the extra mile to assure students learn and understand what they are taught.

AAE is great in all aspects. My children have grown so much in a short period of time. I've never seen a school with staff that is so concerned with the children and their future.

Anniston Avenue Elementary and the Gulfport School District have been very good to my 1st grader. We have have wonderful teachers and an involved and dedicated principal. I don't know of any other school on the Coast offering such a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Anniston Elementary is an amazing school, and I am thrilled to know that my three children are receiving the best possible education. The staff and administration are absolutely wonderful! They are all very supportive and more than happy to provide each one of my children with the love and guidance they need to grow into responsible, well-rounded individuals. Their doors are always open, and I always feel like a welcome part of the Anniston community.

Dedicated staff both pleasing to my son and us parents. Cannot say enough about their professional approach to academics and attention to every students individual needs. Quest program offers clinical and constructive thinking which makes learning fun. Special mention to Miss Jackson, Miss Morehead and Dr Payne for EVERYTHING.

Looking for a great school? Anniston is the school you're looking for. I drive 15 miles daily so that my child can receive the best education. The teachers and staff are passionate about education and love their students. My daughters transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten was smooth. She is enriched daily and enjoy attending Anniston.

Anniston Ave Elementary has quality teachers and staff. They provide a exceptional support for each student to make them be the best they can be.

The Gulfport schools have been blazing the trail for the state of MS by being the only school district in the state to fully implement the Common Core State Standards on behalf of the state department of ed. The teachers have received statewide and local notoriety for their efforts. Two members of the instructional department were selected to serve on the state's national PARCC team. Our district is progressive; for example, all 9th-10th grade students have been provided en e-reader to lighten the load of the book bags. Other technological advances are being made available to our teachers, students, and principals. All core classes have interactive whiteboards. We have redesigned our high school to give students career-based opportunities and early college experience during their junior and senior years. The arts are important to developing a well-rounded student. Our music programs (band, choir, and strings) are among the best in the country and world! How do I know? We continue to win sweepstakes awards each year and have been invited to Disney and Germany to showcase our talents! Athletics? We are the home of state champions in soccer, basketball, and weight lifting. Our Marine ROTC teaches leadership and continues to win state and regional competitions as well. We hold ourselves and our students to high levels of excellence. Gulfport is a great education destination!

SN: Those of us who work for the district may bring our children with us if we live out of district. I'm proud to say, we chose GSD. Best decision we could have made. My children's feeder pattern: West-Gulfport Central Middle-Gulfport High led my sons to honors programs and academic scholarships. This school is no exception! High standards coupled with hard work leads to a successful child.

I have worked very closely with the Anniston Avenue Elementary School staff throughout the past two years, and I can honestly say that I have never been involved with any other school that truly takes each and every students' educational needs into consideration when preparing them for the future.

AAE is a model school. The flurry of activity greets you as you walk into the school. The cover of books are emblazoned on glass windows and students are buzzed with the excitement of the weeks activites. Learning is taking place right before your eyes and you haven't even entered the classroom.

AAE is a wonderful school that has devoted, professional teachers that encourage each student to perform to their greatest ability.

This school adheres to all the strict regulations of the USDA when preparing/serving their meals.

In 2011, the Mississippi Department of Education selected the Gulfport School District as one of three school districts to participate in a pilot program called Excellence for All. As part of this program, selected school districts were given the opportunity to develop innovative programs for their students that would prepare them to compete on a national and global setting in the core subjects as well as improve students' career and college readiness.
