About the charts
This graph shows three data columns for the “% proficient” performing students of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) for each year. The first column is the score for Mason Elementary, the second is the district average, and the third is the state average. Each column is divided to show students who also demonstrated an advanced proficiency.
About Missouri Assessment Program
In 2006, the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) expanded dramatically. “Grade-level testing” in grades 3-8 became mandatory in 2006 under federal law (No Child Left Behind). As a result, MAP tests in communication arts and mathematics were given at seven grade levels, compared with just three grades in past years. In addition, the MAP program was revised to include four achievement levels, instead of five. The four levels (Below Basic, Basic, Proficient and Advanced) were instituted as a result of state law and in order to align with the categories used in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The 2006 results are not comparable to previous years.
