Summary

Lake Middle School is a public middle school located in Woodbury, Minnesota, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 1,160 students. The school is part of the South Washington County Schools district, which is ranked 135 out of 446 districts in Minnesota and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Lake Middle School consistently ranks among the top 25-36 middle schools in Minnesota, with a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's proficiency rates in MCA-III Math and Reading for all grades are significantly higher than the district and state averages, often exceeding 60% proficiency. The school's performance is particularly strong in certain student subgroups, such as African American, Hispanic, and Multi-racial students, where the school ranks among the top 10-25 middle schools in the state.

While Lake Middle School outperforms the nearby Cottage Grove Middle School and Oltman Middle School in academic metrics, the performance gap is more significant when compared to schools in less affluent districts, such as South St. Paul Middle School and Battle Creek Middle. The proximity of high-performing schools like Oak-Land Middle School (part of the Stillwater Area Public Schools district) suggests that Lake Middle School may face competition for attracting and retaining top-performing students.

Open Quote This school has been a fabulous fit for my smart independent 6th grade son. I was a little apprehensive about sending him this school because of the class sizes and contemplated sending him to a private school. He has received excellent individualized attention and is currently getting all A's and has to work hard for those A's. He really enjoys all of his teachers. Close Quote

Open Quote I think this school has a lot of resources for kids who go to this school.Lake Middle School has also met the AYP standards. From my experience, teachers do their best to challenge students and work with them if they are behind. Close Quote
