Open Quote This school came highly recommended to us by an advocate. It doesn’t come close to living up to its reputation. My autistic son was secluded hundreds of times and this private placement was actually far worse for him than his public placement. It’ll take years of therapy to undo the psychological harm done to him there. We also weren’t impressed with their academics. They talk a great game in the tour, but they did not come close to living up to what their site promised.

There are other placements that don’t employ seclusion like Kennedy Krieger does. If you want your autistic child to spend a lot of time locked up in solitary confinement, this is the school for you. If you have the reasonable expectation that your child won’t be traumatized, come home bruised, and actually educated to their highest ability, steer clear of this nightmare of a place. About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
