Open Quote Bethesda Chevy Chase High School is probably the worst school to send a student with special needs. I personally would never recommend it to any potential new comer. All through my high school career in this terrible school I’ve experienced suicidal thoughts and ideation. I turned to self-harm in response to the lack of support that I so desperately needed. After barley graduating from this school, I was later diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and a bad case of ADHD. I couldn’t believe how many problems I had! And how little support I was offered at Bethesda Chevy Chase! I applied for a 504 in my senior year I believe, and was denied. I was tested by some B rated ADHD tester who apparently had no idea what she was doing, because she said I was fine and just lazy. I can’t stress how little thought went into this so called “testing”. It took about 30 minutes, as opposed to a few hours at the place who later diagnosed me with all of these lovely things. It angers me, to know that I could have been helped a long time ago, and never was. Bethesda Chevy Chase is also a seriously competitive school, in terms of grades and GPAs. Always seeing other people succeed in their academics as I failed constantly only killed my spirit that much more, of course not helping with the depression in any sort of way. I strongly dislike this school, and hope that no other student has to go through the same situations as I. There is a sickening feeling in my stomach every time I bring up this school. Only a select number of teachers and a counselor were supportive of me in this school; but none of them could outweigh the lack there of. I hope Bethesda Chevy Chase high school get their act together sooner or later because, what I experienced here for four torturous years, was cruelty. Close Quote

Open Quote Academically high-ranking but the truth is, the students have a reputation for being arrogant despite their locally well-known reputation for drug abuse, drug dealing, and vandalism. My front yard has been the recipient of trash, cigarette butts, and the like. They are brazen in their habits, "sparking up" across the street on the sidewalk or the Capital Crescent Trail, depending on their mood and what they perceive to be a somewhat weak police presence. Parents are affluent and lenient, overcompensating for their lack of structure and attention and typically in denial of their charges' nonchalant attitude toward rules and authority as long as they as enrolled in AP or Honors courses. Arrests among BCC HS are quite common, and those with the worst behavior are well-known by local police. Many students are children of diplomats and some of them abuse their diplomatic immunity to commit crimes on a daily basis, mocking the laws of the United States and showing a general disrespect for our country. I did not send my children to this school, even though I am zoned to BCC; I sent my children to alternate schools. Shameful school really. Close Quote
