Summary

Ariel Elementary Community Academy is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Chicago, Illinois, with 352 students. The school is part of the Chicago Public Schools District 299, which is ranked 698 out of 811 districts in Illinois and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. Ariel Elementary has consistently been ranked in the bottom 15% of Illinois elementary schools over the past decade, also with a 1-star rating.

Ariel Elementary faces significant challenges, including extremely high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 25.4% to 47.8% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the district and state averages. The school's students also perform poorly on standardized tests, with only 26.6% proficient or better in ELA and 13% proficient in math, compared to 42.8% and 27.3% for the district, and 53.1% and 38.5% for the state, respectively. This poor performance is consistent across subgroups, such as female, male, African American, and low-socioeconomic status students.

Interestingly, the nearby schools in the same district, such as Woodson South Elementary, Reavis Elementary, and Fuller Elementary, also perform poorly and have similar low rankings and test scores as Ariel Elementary, suggesting a systemic issue within the Chicago Public Schools District 299. The only school that outperforms Ariel Elementary is the nearby University of Chicago Charter-North Kenwood, a public charter school with higher test scores, lower chronic absenteeism, and a higher ranking.

Open Quote This all started in Mr.Schlosser class and it went onto Mrs.Lat room where I even like staying in the class this is not new but for some reason I don't want to leave the school you would think that I would be ready to go but I'm not. I love this school my child and I have been to a lot of school's.I have never been to a school and been this satisfied they are challenging for the children but I believe that is best. Ariel have been helpful and a blessing from god. I have given my child THE BEST OF THE BEST which is ARIEL COMMUNITY ACADEMY we still have a long way to go only because he is just hitting the second grade.I'm just blessed to see I've started with the BEST!
