Open Quote This school has a beautiful new, well designed facility. The office staff and teachers I have come in contact with are friendly and caring. My child (not a top student) has made remarkable progress at this school. Close Quote

Open Quote As a former student at this school, I can say first hand this is not a good school. Favoritism is a huge problem at Ike, and it goes completely unchecked. Teachers and staff are allowed to basically bully students and get away with it just because the test scores are pretty high. However, what many fail to see is that test scores do not completely define a school. The academically inclined students are the ones who will tell you how much they love coming to school at Ike. For those who were average to below average like myself, chances are they will not want to come to school at all. All Ike will do for the below average kids is just drop them off in a SpEd class. That is why Ike has such a big SpEd population. As said earlier, counseling services are completely ineffective. Bullying awareness at this school is near nonexistent and bullying goes nearly completely unchecked on the campus. When the kids get a little loud during lunch time, the principal would order them out of the cafeteria and would make them sit on the hot pavement for the rest of the lunch period as punishment for their actions. Terrible school, please reconsider sending your kids here. Close Quote

Open Quote This is the best public school we have experienced; I finally feel like my tax dollars are hard at work! I am proud that my daughter has attended this school for the past two years. They have provided her with all the tools to succeed in class. The teachers are of higher quality and more professional than another school my daughter attended in the state of Hawaii and a public school she attended in Virginia. There is a wide range of technology used at this school and the use of the internet is encouraged but also monitored. The library is the jewel of this school and the afterschool activities are soooo awesome. The principle doesn't tolerate bullying from the students or the teachers and the well being of the children is her top priority. One of my neighbors moved into the neighborhood a year ago because her son has special needs and her experience with this school's special needs program this year has been stellar. I believe that my son may have special needs as well and I look forward to when he will have the privilege of attending in fall of 2016. Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers can be really mean to the students. Always yelling, belittling and just not patient at all. Close Quote

Open Quote Mililani Ike is one of the most overrated schools on the island. While yes, they do have good test scores, let's not forget about what goes on outside the classroom. Favortism is a very big problem here. Only the smartest and kids willing to kiss up are those who are treated well. Those who are slower learners will generally be put into a special education classroom. Have a socially awkward kid? That can mean mandatory "counseling." All except for one, the counsellors are terrible. They scream, shout, scold and generally put down and bully the kids. Close Quote

Open Quote My youngest daughter attended Mililani Ike for four years, from Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I had end older daughter who has attended three other schools in three different states. Two of those schools were just okay and one was considered excellent. However, I must say Mililani Ike beats all of them in every area. The parents or grandparents are frequently involved and the school makes it very easy for them to be involved. The education is fantastic and our experience with teachers has been amazing! This is one of the best schools on the island of Oahu, if not the best in my opinion. The library is superb! The field trips are always fun and educational and there are plenty of volunteer opportunities. Ike teaches Trustworthiness, respect, and responsibility. We were very sad to leave due to my husband's job. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
