Summary

Osborne High School is a public high school located in Marietta, Georgia, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 2,773 students. It is part of the Cobb County School District, which is ranked 54 out of 206 districts in Georgia and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger. However, Osborne High School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Georgia high schools over the past several years, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger for most of the time period analyzed.

Osborne High School's performance lags significantly behind other high-performing Cobb County schools like Hillgrove High School and Wheeler High School. The school consistently underperforms the Cobb County and Georgia averages on the Milestones Assessments across all subject areas and grade levels, with only 24.9% of Osborne students proficient or better in American Literature and Composition, compared to 52.8% in Cobb County and 40.4% statewide. Additionally, Osborne High School's four-year graduation rate has ranged from 77.4% to 87.9% over the past few years, which is lower than the 85.4% rate reported for the Cobb County district.

The high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch at Osborne High School, ranging from 74.75% to 85.18% over the past few years, suggests that the school may be serving a more economically disadvantaged population compared to other schools in the district. This could be a contributing factor to the school's lower academic performance. Addressing these challenges will likely require a comprehensive, data-driven approach to improve educational outcomes for the school's students.

Open Quote Osborne is labeled with a less than pleasant reputation due to its location and a small number of students that misbehave. As a former student of the school, Osborne prepares student for the real world. If college is the route of choosing, the staff prepares the students. The same comment applies for those seeking technical programs, and ect. The staff is highly educated, over prepared and very diverse. They go beyond the classroom to assist the students. Osborne's class schedule allows students to graduate early as they use block systems. The AP program allows students to explore their true strengths with the help of the teachers. As a student that attended Osborne, and graduated from the SEC division 1 school, Osborne provided me with the tools to be successful in my college course work and life. Close Quote

Open Quote As a current student at Osborne, I am not pleased about the things I hear about my school. People think that bad things will happen at this school when in reality the school is actually pretty quiet. The staff and the student body are the nicest people that I have met in my life. The staff treats everyone that walks through the front doors with respect. Sure, there may be students that are rowdy, but all schools have students like that. The students at Osborne are great people with big aspirations. I have to admit that before I started high school, I had my doubts about Osborne. But, as I look back at the past 3 years I've spent at this school, I realize that not only have I met good people and have made great lifelong friends, I have gained one of the best educations I have ever gotten.
