Largo-Tibet Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of Georgia elementary schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger for most of the past decade. The school significantly underperforms compared to the district and state averages on standardized tests, with only 15.5% of 3rd graders, 19.8% of 4th graders, and 26.5% of 5th graders proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 30.7%, 29.4%, and 37.4% for the district, respectively. Additionally, Largo-Tibet has an extremely high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 87.92% to 29.23%, which is significantly higher than nearby schools.

In contrast, nearby schools such as Jacob G. Smith Elementary and Pulaski Elementary significantly outperform Largo-Tibet on academic measures, despite being in the same district. The combination of high poverty rates, high student-teacher ratios, and relatively high per-student spending at Largo-Tibet suggests that factors beyond just funding, such as teacher quality, curriculum, and school leadership, may be contributing to the school's persistent underperformance.

Open Quote If you actually care about your child’s education please THINK twice before sending your child here. My child went to kindergarten here for only a good 3 months and here’s my factual observations just take a tour of the school yourself you will see.
1. 22 students to 1 teacher
2. 90 African American students, meaning no diversity at all.
3. About 85 students receive free lunch
4. Bullying is tolerated
5. Found out people sell drugs directly across the street from this elementary school
6. If you ever have an issue with the way your child is being treated, expect the principal and vice principal to ALWAYS be on the teacher side under any circumstances
7. The school is practically run down and considered an “inner city” school,
8. This school is behind in testing in the whole city of Savannah schools, meaning your child will get behind.
There’s more but I wrote this to hopefully save someone else the headache and hassle from dealing with this school. Close Quote
