While Atlantic High School has a relatively high four-year graduation rate, ranging from 88.0% to 96.5% in recent years, its academic performance lags behind some of the nearby high schools. The school's proficiency rates in Algebra 1 (41%), Geometry (63%), and 10th grade English Language Arts (51%) are all below the Volusia and Florida state averages. Additionally, Atlantic High School has a higher chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 30.9% to 42.5%, compared to schools like Seabreeze High School (31.4%).

One potential factor contributing to Atlantic High School's performance may be the higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 51.74% to 57.84%, compared to nearby schools like Seabreeze High School (41.36%) and Spruce Creek High School (38.51%). This suggests that the school may be serving a more economically disadvantaged population, which could impact academic outcomes. By addressing these challenges and implementing targeted interventions, Atlantic High School has the potential to improve its overall performance and better serve its student community.

Open Quote If your student is special needs beware they don't care . My child has adhd & has impulse issues & unable to take meds. Grant it my child is no angel by any means, but is not a problem child as well. The school does not see it this way though for a child with adhd they see them as a problem . The discipline lady acts like a child tattling on a class mate. The vice principal has no sense of humor what so ever and will judge your student before they even get to know them. The school is very judgmental, pushy & act like stuck up rich snobs. the front staff do not talk to the students nice i have observed with another student in the office. There was only one teacher there that i liked though Ms. Viola in special ed. The sheriff on campus there was awesome as well he really does care about the kids & all of the kids safety there so shout out to him as well for being awesome, We felt they really just want to push kids thru and collect the money on these special needs kids.
