Open Quote My son attended from kindergarten to fifth grade (completed in 2016) and had a wonderful experience. The administrators, teachers and staff are very professional and experienced. The education was excellent, as my son tested near the top on statewide assessments. Close Quote

Open Quote We had the usual kindergarten-parent concerns about sending our son to public school in Florida: fearing that state curriculum requirements to "teach to the tests," limited funding, and a large student population might allow some kids to fall through the cracks, and miss the independent critical-thinking and big-picture learning that really has to be established just as early as the ol' three Rs for kids to be successful. No fear at Kate Sullivan! The arts programs here are excellent--woven through the academic curriculum, and strongly supported through the efforts of an active PTA and an army of volunteers and very involved parents. Kids get excited about academic activities like science fair, actually internalize the guidance/discipline standards of the school (safety, respect, responsibility) and take them seriously, and learn to get along with a diverse student body. Teachers are warm and caring, and work hard to give individual attention to students despite standardized-test-based county and state curriculum requirements that put a huge strain on available classroom time, and they succeed in preparing kids to cope well with the occasional over-scheduled days. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
